About Radhika Savant Mohit

Hello,

This is a little bit about me and my background. I am a licensed counselor/therapist (Malaysia , Australia) and an accredited coach (ICF). However my journey into the field of mental wellness is circuitous, to say the least.

Original from India, I have now lived and worked for 30 years overseas. An architect and urban planner by training I initially worked in the development field with UN agencies and other bilateral aid agencies. The focus of that work for almost twelve years was South and SouthEast Asia.

Two children and trailing a globe trotting spouse I reinvented myself many times over. An unfinished PhD (my one big regret) and a cultural trainer for multinational corporations were the other hats I wore. How culture affects business, leadership and decision making processes was I think my first step into the field of mental wellness. It gave me a truly global perspective of how people think, feel and behave.

My other learning experience of understanding how we are similar and yet not same was through my role as mother, driver, cleaner, nurse and listener to my children first and foremost, and then through the friendships and connections I built in the international school communities we were part of as a family.

I have always believed that growth is essential and needs to be continuous. That comes from a willingness to learn and relearn. A second Masters in a classroom with students many years my junior was another bit of the puzzle that fell into place.

Do I consider myself an expert in mental wellness? Absolutely not. I am constantly training and retraining myself, researching and reading. If you believe you have reached the pinnacle of knowledge and experience in your profession then I guess there is only one way to go – down. What I do bring to the table of coaching, counselling and therapy is an approach grounded in research, flexible and multicultural understanding, and absolutely no judgement. I am here to listen, and listen empathetically as I share your journey towards awareness and personal growth.

Theoretical Orientation

Radhika draws on a number of research-based theoretical approaches in her practice but a combination of Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (STST) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) are her preferred modalities.

Focusing on teenagers and young adults, couples and families, as well as coaching women professionals and entrepreneurs, Radhika believes that reaching out for support to enhance personal awareness and growth is a sign of courage. Committing to coaching, counselling or therapy shows a willingness to be both honest and vulnerable, and that requires stepping out of our comfort zone and being prepared to be accountable for our thoughts, feelings and behaviour.

If you feel this is what you are ready to do for yourself then do reach out for that support and I will journey with you with empathy and compassion.
